iPhone 4 (4th gen iPhone)
The iPhone 4 comes in 16GB and 32GB sizes and a choice of black or white. The iPhone 4 is an all new design with a stainless steel middle section and glass front and back.
iPhone 3GS (3rd gen iPhone)
The iPhone 3GS came in 16GB and 32GB sizes and a choice of solid black or solid white back case. The iPhone lettering on the back is mirrored the same as the Apple logo. The 3G is not.
iPhone 3G (2nd gen iPhone)
The iPhone 3G came in 8GB and 16GB sizes and a choice of solid black or solid white back case.
iPhone (1st gen iPhone)
The original iPhone came in 4GB and 8GB sizes. It's easily identified by its silver back with a black plastic lower section.
ID your iPod Touch
iPod touch (4th generation)
The iPod touch (2010) came in 8GB, 32 GB or 64 GB sizes and can be distinguished from previous models by the front-facing camera which enables FaceTime video chatting. The back case is flatter than previous models, and there's a rear camera.
iPod touch (3rd generation)
The iPod touch (Late 2009) came in 32 GB or 64 GB sizes and can be distinguished from iPod touch (2nd generation) by looking at the back of the device. All iPod touch models introduced in Late 2009 have two or three lines of text below the capacity engraving. The prior iPod touch (2nd generation) had four lines of text or more.
iPod touch (2nd generation)
The iPod touch (2nd generation) came in 8GB, 32 GB or 64 GB sizes and can be distinguished from previous iPod touch models by its contoured design and oval shaped antenna cover in the back upper left corner.
iPod touch (1st generation)
The original iPod touch came in 8 GB, 16 GB, or 32 GB sizes and is easily identified by the black, rectangular antenna cover in the back upper left corner.
